PM Oli calls cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has called a meeting of the cabinet today.

The meeting to begin at 12 noon is seen with curiosity as the meeting coincides with the ongoing Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

The party’s Standing Committee will begin soon today.

PM Oli has been widely criticized by the senior leaders of his party. Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal among others have been demanding the resignation of PM Oli.

The meeting of the Standing Committee on Wednesday was postponed for today.

Most of the members speaking on Tuesday and Wednesday sought the resignation of Prime Minister Oli.

On Thursday morning, Dahal held talks with Prime Minister Oli’s confidantes at his residence in Khumaltar.

Party leaders Bishnu Poudel, Ishwor Pokhrel, Subash Chandra Nemwang, Bishnu Rimal, Pradeep Gyawali, Shanker Pokhrel, among others were among the NCP leaders to reach Dahal’s residence for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Dahal’s confidantes, including Barsa Man Pun, Janardhan Sharma, Matrika Yadav, Haribol Gajurel, among others are also present in the meeting, sources said.

Prime Minister Oli is currently in hot water in recent times, particularly after he alleged India for conspiring to topple his government.
