8 NC lawmakers re-register constitution amendment bill

KATHMANDU: Eight lawmakers of the main opposition party in the parliament Nepali Congress (NC) have re-registered a constitution amendment bill that had failed ratification earlier.

Lawmakers Pradip Giri, Umakanta Chaudhary, Amresh Kumar Singh, Tejulal Chaudhary, Chitralekha Yadav, Abhishek Pratap Shah, Namita Chaudhary and Padma Narayan Chaudhary have registered the amendment bill in the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The bill was formerly unable to get ratification during then Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government.

“As per the party’s Central Committee decision, we have registered the constitution amendment bill,” lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh told Khabarhub.

Narayan Prasad Dhakal of the bills department of the parliament’s secretariat confirmed the registration.
