Rastriya Prani Udyan Project gains pace in Suryabinayak



BHAKTAPUR: Rastriya Prani Udyan (RPU), which is under construction in Suryabinayak municipality, has gained pace, of late.

The road upgradation work which was halted for a while has resumed on the periphery of the garden.

With a view to constructing one Rastriya Prani Udyan in each province, it was inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on June 23, 2016.

Former Minister and Lawmaker Mahesh Basnet said the 15-meter wide road is under construction on the periphery of the garden which is used for protecting and breeding animals and research.

In the first phase, four-kilometer road section will be constructed staring from Khahare of Gundu to Pathibhara Temple in Suryabinayak rural municipality-7.

The RPU has allocated Rs 3 million for this construction. Similarly, another 13-kilometer road will be constructed along Adarsha Chowk to ward office of Suryabinayak municipality-8 to Pilot Baba to Ghyampedanada-Ranikot and  Gundu Simalghar to Pailot Baba to Gyampedanda-Ranikot.

Both the roads will be constructed in the fiscal year 2020/21under the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project for which Rs 50 million has been allocated for each road.

“The works of fencing and demarcation have been completed and two elephants will be put in the Jungle this year,” said Basnet. He further said that the project is a pride not only for the people of Surybinayak but the entire Bhaktapur.

Rs 80 million had been allocated for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) in the fiscal year 2019/20.
