Health Minister Dhakal hints at easing lockdown after May 7

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal on Friday hinted that the COVID-19 lockdown will be eased after May 7.

Speaking at the Legislation Management Committee of the National Assembly, Minister Dhakal hinted that some lockdown restriction will be lifted to bring the day to day life back in the track.

Saying that the government has been receiving suggestions to ease the lockdown, Minister Dhakal said that the government has already started international preparations for that.

Minister Dhakal was of the opinion that the format of the lockdown can be changed taking account of agriculture, industries and other important areas into account.

“The lockdown should be loosened. Agriculture, industry and various other issues should be considered,” Minister Dhakal said, “Homework is being done on how to integrate the ambulance service in view of the situation where the chronically ill are deprived of health services.”

Minister Dhakal also informed that the people who have returned to the village from different areas are being tested through the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method.

Minister Dhakal also said that the government has adopted a policy of repatriating the people after the Supreme Court issued an order to take them to their homes.

According to Minister Dhakal, rescue and RDT tests are underway.
