Chinese markets still sell bats, cats and dogs

BEIJING: China food markets that reopened after the country declared victory over coronavirus have started selling live animals.

Cats and dogs are seen waiting for slaughter. The unsanitary preparation of these animals is again a common sight in Chinese food markets, international media reports have said.

The markets in China, including Dongguan, have gone back their operations in exactly the way as they did before coronavirus, according to a report on Daily Mail.

China in January had ordered the shut-down of its wet-markets after reports emerged suggesting that coronavirus was transmitted to humans via bats and other live animals sold in the filthy markets.

Images have begun to circulate on social media of the traditional Chinese foods which have been considered odd by the western standards for sale.

Even though China has said it has overcome coronavirus, people around the world are skeptical about how honest the Chinese Communist Party has been.

China recorded some 82,342 cases of the coronavirus, according to reports. (With inputs from Agencies)
