Provincial lawmaker Poudel files case at CIAA against Minister Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province Assembly member representing the Bibeksheel Nepali Dal, Ramesh Poudel has filed a case against Minister for Health Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) alleging him of irregularities while procuring medical equipment from China.

He has demanded investigation into the alleged irregularities while procuring the medical equipment procurement from the northern neighbor.

Poudel has filed the complaint through the CIAA’s website.

It should be noted that Nepal has brought rapid testing kits worth Rs 70 million from China. It has been alleged that those kits have yet to be certified by WHO.

Poudel has alleged Minister Dhakal for cancelling a tender announced by the Ministry some three months ago. He has also alleged the Minister for purchasing the equipment paying four times higher than the market price by awarding the tender to this close businessmen.

Poidel, in his allegation, has also charged Minister Dhakal for awarding the tender to the company which did not have any experience of medical supplies while saying that the company, too, was not registered at the Department of Commerce.
