Hailstones damage winter crop



DOTI: A sudden hailstorm in Purbichauki of the district on Saturday evening has damaged winter crops.

Wheat, barley, mustard and vegetable crops have been damaged causing huge loss to the farmers, said an administrative officer at the Purbichauki rural municipality Tek Bahadur Khadka.

The actual loss from the hailstones is yet to be calculated but the around 30 minutes of sudden snowfall damaged vegetation completely. And, it was just about time to harvest the crops.

We were looking forward to a good harvest but everything has been destroyed, said local farmer Bharat Bahadur Bohara.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Tek Narayan Poudel said that information is being gathered about the damage caused by the hailstorm in Purbichauki and other areas.
