Internal feuds resurface in NC with nomination of departmental chiefs

KATHMANDU: The internal feuds within the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have resurfaced after President Sher Bahadur Deuba picked Chiefs for various 13 departments of the party.

Deuba picked departmental chief sans consent from a faction led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel which has fueled a new rivalry in the party.

The dissenting faction has also objected to the inducting of three new central working committee members.

Deuba on Saturday made nominations in the party’s 13 central departments.

Accordingly, Gopal Man Shrestha has been named as the chief of party organization department, Ramesh Rijal chief of federal affairs and state coordination department, Pharmullah Mansoor chief of Muslim department, Arjun Prasad Joshi chief of local level coordination department, Ananda Prasad Dhungana chief of financial institutions and cooperative coordination department, Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya chief of Tarai-Madhes coordination department and Mahendra Yadav chief of transport entrepreneurs coordination department.
