KATHMANDU: Lawmaker of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Ram Narayan Bidari has defended the controversial Information Technology Bill passed by the parliamentary committee which allows the government authorities to tap telephone calls without a court order.
He said that the government’s move to pass the bill was aimed at controlling people from defaming others as well as to monitor the CIA and RAW operatives in the country.
This has been aimed at finding out the agents spying against Nepal, said lawmaker Bidari during a discussion on the bill today.
According to him, the government wants to establish and operate a special intelligence service towards that end.
