Tourists join hands with Bhaktapur locals to inaugurate VNY 2020

BHAKTAPUR: Hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists gathered at Batasedanda in Nagarkot of Bhaktapur since early Wednesday morning to welcome New Year 2020 and inaugurate Visit Nepal Year 2020.

During the inaugural program organized by the District Coordination Committee Bhaktapur and the Nagarkot Naldum Tourism Development Committee, Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma, lawmaker Mahesh Basnet, among others exchanged wishes and welcomed the VN 2020.

A contingent of the Nepali Army (NA) also took part in the inaugural ceremony which was formally inaugurated by hoisting the national flag by Minister Bishwakarma.

On the occasion, Minister Bishwakarma emphasized the need for cooperation from all sectors to make VN 2020 a success.

He said that special packages have to be introduced to lengthen the stay of tourists in Nepal.

According to him, new tourism destinations have also been identified and promoted in the district.
