KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) is organizing various programs across the country to mark the 44th National Reconciliation Day on Wednesday.

Every year, the NC marks National Reconciliation Day on Push 16 (January 1) to commemorate the day when BP Koirala returned to Nepal ending his exile in India in 1977.

Various programs including mass meetings, rallies, and corner meetings will be organized today to mark the Day, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, chief secretary at the party office.

The first democratically elected Prime Minister of Nepal BP Koirala, Iron-man Ganesh Man Singh, leader Shailaja Acharya and Khum Bahadur Khadka had returned to Nepal on December 30, 1976, with the aim of safeguarding the sovereignty of the country through the policy of reconciliation.
