KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 3.35 points on Tuesday to reach 2,000.40 points.
This is the highest point the stock market has achieved so far. In the pre-opening session, the market had increased by 12 points but decreased by 30 points in 15 minutes of trading.
After that, the market increased again by 25 points. The NEPSE index fell but increased again by three points.
Banking, development banks, and hotel sub-indices declined by double-digits while the manufacturing sub-index declined by 107 points.
The highest increase of 216 points was in the life insurance sub-index while the other sub-index listed in the telecom sector also saw an increase of 107 points.
Similarly, while the manufacturing sub-index increased by 99 points, the hydropower sub-index also increased by 38 points. While the non-life sub-index declined by 34 points, the finance group declined by 7 points and the mutual fund remained negative.
A total of 1.876 million shares of 197 companies were bought and sold for Rs 7.40 billion.
