Federal Affairs Ministry urges for uniformity in writing formal names



KATHMANDU: Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has directed all 753 local levels to maintain uniformity in Nepali and English writing while mentioning formal names like local levels, provinces, and country’s name.

The Ministry made aware all local levels to use exact words in English which were approved by the Council of Ministers.

The Cabinet has approved the words used in the English translation of the Constitution of Nepal, according to Section Officer at the ministry, Shekharnidhi Poudel.

The Cabinet also made aware the diplomatic missions in this regard. The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is used in English to formally mention the name of the country.

Similarly, not a state but the province and not the village body but Rural Municipality are approved. In total, 17 such words were given uniformity.
