Karnali CM Shahi backtracks on Cabinet reshuffle

KATHMANDU: The reshuffling of the Council of Ministers of Karnali provincial government will not be done immediately.

Though Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi was said to be preparing for the Cabinet reshuffle today, he withdrew the plan under the direction of the party’s leadership at the center.

The two Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairpersons PM KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda had a meeting on Saturday to discuss the issue of resolving the dispute in Karnali.

“It has been stopped after receiving a directive from the center not to proceed with the Cabinet reshuffle immediately,” the source said.

It is said that the Cabinet reshuffle has been stopped for the time being as it would further complicate the current issue.

Chief Minister Shahi had demanded the resignation of Social Development Minister Dal Rawal and Industry, Tourism and Forest and Environment Minister Nanda Singh Budha. The ministers are considered loyal to PM Oli.
