RAUTAHAT: Dindayal Sah, 35, of Ghiura village in Ishnath Municipality-7 of Rautahat District has been shot dead in Indian territory.

According to District Police Spokesperson DSP Bharat Shrestha, Sah was shot dead in a pond near Lans Banswariya village under Ghodashahan police station in bordering India.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the body of the deceased was taken to Motihari Hospital for postmortem with the help of Indian police. The cause of the murder could not be ascertained and the investigation is underway, said Rautahat Police.

According to Kishori Yadav, a journalist from Auraiya village in Ishnath Municipality, Sah was killed due to a dispute on money transaction. The deceased belongs to an economically-rich family of Ghiura village.

Most of the families in Ghiura, a village close to the Indian border, used to invest in foreign employment and interest earned from various cities in India.

Sah had invested money in Parsa village under Dhaka police station area of India through a relative. It was agreed four days ago that Sah should take Rs 3.6 million from Indian citizens by reducing Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 3.4 million.

On Sunday afternoon, an Indian citizen called Sah and called his village Parsa in India to collect the same amount. The body of Sah, who had gone to Parsa village to collect the money, was found unattended near Lan Banswariya village on Monday.

According to Yadav, there is a possibility that Sah may have been killed by a criminal with the intention of not paying the Indian citizen as he has a large amount of Rs 3.4 million.

The victim’s family has demanded to investigate the facts of the murder of a Nepali citizen in Indian territory and take action against the culprit. Earlier, four others were killed in Rautahat within 15 days.
