Debate will make party robust: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that party unity should be ensured from the higher level.

“The cadres and public don’t want a split in the NCP. The unity should be strengthened from the higher level to respect the public aspirations,” chairman Prachanda said Saturday addressing a program organized to in memory of late leader Tulsilal Amatya.

He also observed the party’s debates and disputes as normal.

On the occasion, he urged the party cadres not to trust that the ongoing debates are for positional gains and added that they were for establishing the ideology, values, norms and system at the party.

“The debate is not for the post. Service to the nation and people is the key,” he added.
We are in the responsibility of developing the nation and ensuring the future of the nation and people, he added.

Dahal was of the view that debates in the party were usual since the communist parties run on ideology and system.

He also recalled that he has renounced his positions for political instability and unity.

Claiming that the trends of party split would be defeated, Dahal argued that the debates in the party should not be swept under the carpet.

“The current debate is sharp. We have sharp debates ongoing. There is no alternative to maintain party unity by taking education from history’s experiences. The trends for party split shall be defeated,” he added.

He said that the corona infection has spread at the community level in Birgunj due to the failure to implement the one-on-one test campaign with the objective of making Birgunj a green zone.
