KATHMANDU: At a time when the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has witnessed fierce tussle in the leadership level, the subordinate leaders and cadres have expressed dismay and urged the leadership for the unity.
The cadres and well-wishers have requested the party leadership to make self-compunction, realize the unity in the party and make course correction accordingly.
Request is made in the social media posts of the junior leaders and cadres. “Stop the activities that makes self-mockery,” many cadres stressed.
Coming together in the last general elections with flying colours, then CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) forged unification with common agenda of stability and prosperity.
The NCP which is running the government with near two thirds majority has however seen ups and downs within the party, which, many argue is detrimental to the party itself.
Although the disputes and difference are normal and necessary to make the huge party dynamic, the deepening debate and blame game are counterproductive.
The leaders in the standing committee and in the Council of Ministers too, Ghanashyam Bhushal and Yogesh Bhattarai publicly called for continued dialogue for keeping unity intact and embolden the trust.
The ongoing Standing Committee meeting of the NCP saw heated debate on Tuesday which is believed to be caused by the Prime Minister KP Oli’s remark that efforts were made to topple him.
This issue that emerged all of sudden affected the meeting agenda scheduled earlier.
Over this, the top leaders sought the resignation of the PM over his remarks given at the programme organized in memory of the late leader Madan Bhandari.
Interestingly, the issues of the application filed at Election Commission for registering a party in the name of CPN-UML also surfaced.
Students organization leader affiliated to the party, Ain Mahar, expressed despair over heated debate between party chairmen duo Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and other top leaders.
“The issues debated in the ongoing Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday shocked me. The wrangling in the top leadership has eroded public trust and sacrifice and dampened hope,” he said.
Similarly, another leader, who is joint coordinator of the People’s Cultural Federation, Saral Sahayatri, blamed the self-centered attitude causing tussle.
“If the solution is not sought with consensus, even the votes can be made on it,” he added. District committee office member of the party from Dadeldhura Dhana Bahadur Raut said he was saddened by the top level tussle.
All party cadres are for party unity, he added, requesting the leaders to play a positive role and make stronger coordination.
