Home Ministry directs police to find sugar mill operators

KATHMANDU: The government has instructed the Nepal Police to find the sugar mill operators who have been alleged of absconding by refuting to pay outstanding dues to the sugarcane farmers.

The decision to this effect was made after the protests of sugarcane farmers at Maitighar in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, in a letter, directed the Nepal Police on Tuesday, to get hold of the sugar mill operators and hand over them to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

The farmers have been asking the government to facilitate in bringing back their dues.

It should be noted that the parliamentary committee had on Monday directed the government to address the farmers’ demand at the earliest.
