Unimaginable, doctors remove 526 teeth from a 7-year-old’s mouth

CHENNAI: Doctors at the Saveetha Dental College and Hospital extracted 526 teeth from the mouth of a seven-year-old boy in what has been dubbed as a rare surgery, Indian media reports have said.

The boy, as reports suggest, was brought to the hospital with his lower right jaw swollen. Doctors said he was suffering from a rare case of ‘compound composite ondontome.’

According to doctors, the CT-scan and an X-ray his lower right jaw showed a lot of rudimentary teeth.

While opening the jaw after administering general anesthesia, doctors said they saw a ‘bag’ inside it weighing around 200 grams. It was then removed and was later found that it contained 526 teeth – big, medium and small-sized.

The teeth were like very tiny particles but had the properties of teeth. The doctors took almost five hours to remove all the minute teeth from the bag.

Doctors termed this as the first ever case in the world in which in a person has been found to have so many tiny teeth. (Agencies)
