Death toll from storms in Bara, Parsa climbs to 32



BIRGUNJ: The death toll from storms that broke in Bara and Parsa in Province 2 on Sunday evening has reached 32.

Several died in Harbadiya of Parsa, and in different locations of Bara, district police said. Several places of the districts bore the brunt of the storms.

Most of the deaths have been caused due to falling of the tress, electric posts, and house and wall collapse, police said.

More than 400 have been injured in various locations of the two districts, according to the police. They are undergoing treatment at the local medical centers as well as the Narayan Sub-regional Hospital.

Several houses have been damaged while a significant amount of property has been destroyed due to the windstorm.

Locals, police and army personnel are involved in rescue operations.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Oli in a tweet expressed sorrow over the deaths.
