Foreign Minister Gyawali says MCC will be ratified

KATHMANDU: Foreign minister Pradeep Gyawali has said that the Parliament will ratify the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement.

Foreign Minister Gyawali’s statement comes at a time when the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders are divided over the issue.

He said that his party has made its stance clear on MCC while reiterating of endorsing it through the Parliament.

The MCC, according to the agreement with the United States, will provide $500 million in grant. Meanwhile, the Nepal government will chip in $130 million for the implementation of the Electricity Transmission Project (ETP) and Road Maintenance Project (RMP).
