Minister Magar pledges rehabilitation of freed haliyas

KANCHANPUR: Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar on Saturday pledged rehabilitation of freed haliyas (agricultural bonded laborers).

She said she would take initiatives to manage additional budget after consulting the concerned minister for the rehabilitation of freed haliyas.

She was meeting with freed haliyas at Punarbas municipality-3 in Kanchanpur district. She reached the municipality to cast vote in the by-election.

“I will do my efforts to initiate rehabilitation of all freed haliyas of the district by managing the budget for the same in the next fiscal year if not this year,” she said.

On the occasion, Shibi Luhar, Chairperson of the National Freed Haliya Society, Kanchanpur, demanded that the Minister that she took initiatives to help release the second tranche of Rs 80 million for the rehabilitation of 167 freed haliya families.

He also demanded rehabilitation of 87 freed haliyas who were ranked Group ‘A’ and got the identity card in the current fiscal year of 2076/77.
