KMC on campaign to construct parks: Mayor Shakya

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has said the construction of parks has been started on a campaign footing to enhance the greenery in the metropolis.

Speaking in a program organized by Buddha Bihar at KMC Ward No 5 here today, he asserted that the KMC was continuously engaged in public construction works as well.

“KMC is relentlessly working to identify the public land and constructing parks in these spaces in the metropolis’ all 32 Wards,” mayor Shakya said, adding that the construction works would be completed in all the Wards within the coming three years.

It was shared on the occasion that works were on at present to construct the Kamal Pokhari park, the Eco Park, Shankha Park, Bagmatinagar Park, the Peace Park and the Buddha Garden.

Also, the KMC has intensified works on the reconstruction of historical heritage sites that were damaged by the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015.

KMC Ward 5 chair Ramesh Dangol and other local leaders of Nepal Communist Party underscored protecting the public property in the metropolis.

A Buddhist monastery is being constructed at KMC Ward No 5 at a cost of Rs 9 million provided by KMC.
