Govt to construct 4,500 km road, says Minister Pandit



BIRATNAGAR: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit today said that work has been forwarded to construct a total of 4,500-km of the road network that would link major towns and rural municipalities to the major highways.

Speaking at a program in Biratnagar today, Minister Pandit stated that the estimated cost of constructing the road network will come around Rs 8 billion.

Likewise, inaugurating a new police beat in Biratnagar, Minister Pandit maintained that 25 percent of the total budget of the country was allocated for the construction of roads.

On the occasion, he also warned of severe action against those contractors and builders constructing sub-standard roads.

Likewise, Minister Pandit informed that the blacktopping work of the Rani-Nimuwa canal road would be inaugurated next week

Informing that the government was aiming for an 11 percent economic growth as against the current over seven percent, he expressed the confidence that Nepal would make headway for development and prosperity through coordination among the three-tier governments.
