Pokhara to host Karate Grand Championship



POKHARA: Touristic town Pokhara will be hosting the ‘First Nepal Full Contact President Cup Karate Grand Championship’ next month.

A total of 64 players –32 each in women’s and men’s category–will compete for the titles. They all associated with the Nepal Full Contact Karate Federation, the event organizer, will represent several 15 organizations in the event.

A player coming out the first will go home with a cash prize of Rs 100 thousand followed by Rs 50 thousand and 25 thousand for the second and third prizes. The event will kick off on August 31.

As said by Federation chair Daman Basnet, the main objective of the event is to produce players of international standard and raise public interest in it.

Meanwhile, the second Gandaki state-level men and women’s karate competition has been scheduled for August 30 and 31 in the Pokhara Stadium.
