E-cigarettes cause tobacco addiction



MUMBAI: E-cigarettes (Electronic-cigarettes) are dangerous to use as they push the users towards tobacco addiction – the message is timely on the eve of ‘World No Tobacco Day’ celebrated every year on May 31.

YB Chavan center released a study conducted by NGO Salaam Bombay Foundation under the aegis of WHO South East Asia Regional according to which Office 80% of e- cigarette  users who had never used any tobacco before are switching to cigarettes stuffed with harmful tobacco products.

Scientific findings disclose that one e-cigarette is equivalent to inhaling (or smoking) 20 or more cigarettes. E-cigarette is even more dangerous than cigarette smoking in normal course of life. Nearly 36 countries have already banned the sale and use of e-cigarettes, confirms Jagdish Kaur, regional advisor, WHO South East Asia region.
