Dozen including two lawmakers fleeced under US visa promises

KATHMANDU: Manpower agents have fleeced a dozen people including two lawmakers of millions of rupees by promising them American visas.

Lawmakers Amar Bahadur Thapa and Seeta Nepali of Karnali Province had applied for visa at the America Embassy after they were invited to take part in a program on Women Violence and Chhaupadi to be organized in California, a report in Kantipur daily said.

The lawmakers came to know to have been cheated only after their visas were rejected by the embassy.
