Nepal beats Maldives by 107 runs in SAG practice match

KATHMANDU: Nepal ‘A’ defeated the Maldives by 107 runs in the second practice match ahead of the South Asian Games (SAG) played at Mulpani Cricket Ground on Friday.

Chasing down the 217-run target set by Nepal, the Maldives managed to get only 109 runs on the board losing all wickets in 20 overs. For the Maldives, Yusuf made 19 runs as Mohammad Ajam made 26 runs.

For Nepal, Bikram Sob, Manjit Shrestha and Tilakraj Bhandari took two wickets each.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 216 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing three wickets.

Opener Sharad Vesawkar made the highest 84 runs studded with 4 fours and eight sixes off 42 balls.

Similarly, Pradeep Airee scored 69 runs including 4 fours and six sixes off 36 balls before being caught out. Amit Shrestha remained unbeaten with 25 runs.

Maldivian cricketer Leem Shafeeq took three wickets of Nepal.
