BUTWAL: Senior leader of Samajwadi Party, Ashok Rai has warned that his party would quit the KP Oli-led government if it did not take steps to amend the constitution as per the party’s demand.

Speaking at a program in Butwal today, leader Rai raised serious concern over the government’s silence on the issue of constitution amendment despite the government’s assurance made to the Samajbadi Party.

The party had joined the Oli-led government after senior leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had expressed the commitment of making amendments in the constitution to address the party’s demands.

Rai reminded the government about constitution amendments warning that his party would be compelled to walk out of the government.

He reiterated his party’s demands of introducing a directly-elected presidential system, federalism based on identity, among others.
