KATHMANDU: Following the adjournment at several times, the secretariat meeting of major ruling party, Nepal Communist Party (NCP), is all set to take place at 3:00 pm on Monday.

According to party leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha, the meeting is to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.

Earlier, the meeting was adjourned multiple times due to differing views on who will be given the leadership of the party’s School Department: either party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha or secretariat member Ishwor Pokhrel.

Other leaders such as Jhalanath Khanal, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Beduram Bhusal and Ram Karki have also put their claim overtaking the charge of department chief.

Though the names of Bamdev Gautam as the chief of Organisational Department and Madhav Kumar Nepal as the chief of the External Affairs Department have been tentatively agreed, the official decision is awaited.  The meeting is expected to make decisions in regard to the leadership of several 33 departments.

Though the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist-Centre) had been united on May 17, 2017, to form the present NCP, the unification process at all levels is yet to be completed.
