KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said conspiracies are rife against leaders and political parties who fought to overthrow the institution of monarchy to establish Nepal as a republic.

Dahal alias ‘Prachanda’ warned Nepal would undergo dire consequences if achievements including republican set up, federalism, among others were brought to an end. He said it is high time that all sections of the society and the political parties were united to foil any conspiracies hatched against the historic achievements.

He said this while welcoming new entrants into the party deserting the Biplav-led outfit. “Certain elements are active in the society saying they would take me to The Hague,” NCP Supremo Dahal said adding, “Even if they do so, I would be fortunate enough. I would be recognized as the world’s hero if they take me there (The Hague).”

He described them as elements, who are trying to annihilate the historic change in the country. “I don’t believe they would want me to become a hero.” He said even if he went to The Hague, he would be more than fortunate to prove that he fought for peace.

He went on to add that the political parties would continue to be influential and vigorous until and unless the republican set up continues to exist.

In another context, Dahal suggested the Biplav-led faction to either be wiped out or join the NCP. “Sooner or later, they (Biplav faction) will join the mainstream politics.”
