Army plants 38,000 tree saplings

CHITWAN: Nepal Army on Saturday planted approximately 38,000 saplings of various types of fruits in the premises of its various barracks in Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Mahottari and Chitwan districts as part of its an-army-a-tree campaign to plant 150,000 tree saplings across the country.

Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa led the plantation of tree saplings in the golf course at Tribhuvan International Airport, Bhakundebeshi of Kavrepalanchok, Bardibas of Mahottari and Shaktikhor of Chitwan.

The campaign started on Friday from the Army headquarters by planting saplings of 250 types of fruit trees.

The campaign helps implement the government’s program of a Nepali-one tree sapling of fruits, said Army chief Thapa on the occasion.
