KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday said that Nepali leaders could meet a similar fate to Communist leader Madan Bhandari.

“Leader Bhandari was murdered at the age of 41 years,” he said speaking at a program organized here today, “We could also be murdered in a similar fashion”.

The former Prime Minister said that it is hard to say who was behind the ‘murder’.

On May 16, 1993, Bhandari died in a car accident in Dasdhunga, Chitwan. According to an investigation carried out at that time, it was not an accident but an ‘unsolved murder’.

Of the three people inside the car, only the driver Amar Lama survived; the two leaders Madan Bhandari and Jibaraj Ashrit died. The only survivor of that crash, driver Lama, was murdered 10 years later.
