Snake slithers out of toilet, bites Coral Springs man

CORAL SPRINGS: Authorities say a 4-foot-long snake slithered out of a toilet and bit a Coral Springs man’s arm over the Memorial Day weekend.

The 52-year-old man lifted the toilet seat early Sunday morning, and a ball python “rose up and bit him,” according to a police report.

The snake is nonvenomous, and the man was treated at his apartment in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive.

The snake did not belong to the man who was bitten, and it’s unclear how it got into the toilet, said Chris Swinson, a police spokesman.

The snake could have belonged to a previous resident or perhaps found its way into the apartment’s plumbing, he said.
Reaching a maximum length of 6 feet, ball pythons are generally considered to be timid and do not grow as large as the Burmese pythons that have invaded the Everglades. Native to Africa, the ball python is popular in the pet trade. (Agencies)
