What leaders say on new budget?

KATHMANDU: The fiscal budget unveiled by the government on Wednesday has drawn mixed reactions. The leaders of the ruling party have applauded the budget while the opposition leaders have criticized it.

Responding on the new budget, former Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba said the new budget is not in line with ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’ campaign of the government.

Likewise, NC leader Minendra Rijal has said the government has missed an opportunity to unveil a good budget.

Responding on the newly-unveiled budget, he said that a two-digit growth rate is unachievable.

Also responding, leader of Rastriya Janata Party Laxmanlal Karna said that the government tried to unveil a populist budget but failed to present programs accordingly.

He remarked that the budget seems indifferent in implementing federalism.

On the other hand, leaders of the ruling parties termed the budget as positive.

Leader of Nepal Communist Party Bhim Rawal remarked that the budget has prioritized domestic production which will assist the economy.

Likewise, former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey remarked that the fiscal budget has tried to incorporate many issues.

“However, the implementation is challenging.” he said.
