IS behind the Sunday Dhaka explosion

DHAKA: Islamic State has claimed the responsibility for an explosion targeting a police van in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital on Sunday, says a global monitoring group. US based SITE Intelligence said in a Twitter post that IS terrorist organization (also known as Daesh in Arabic language) was behind it.

Dhaka Police Commissioner Asaduzz Mia said on Monday that the bomb was planted in the van and its explosion was more powerful than than that of April one. Two of the injured were taken to the hospital after the Sunday Dhaka blast.

Bangladesh has witnessed a series of blasts by Islamist radical groups.
