1.59-trln-size budget being unveiled at 4 pm



KATHMANDU: The government is unveiling the budget for the fiscal year 2076/77 on Wednesday.

Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada will present the budget at the federal parliament meeting in New Baneshwar at 4 pm.

The size of the budget will be about Rs 1.59 trillion, according to a report of Rajdhani daily.

The budget is being brought with the aim of achieving double-digit economic growth in the coming fiscal year. It will focus on social security and infrastructure of the country.

Features of the budget:

  • The government employees’ salary will increase from 10 to 15 percent.
  • Elderly allowance will by hiked by Rs 1,000.
  • A significant amount of budget will be allocated for health insurance.
  • Additional budget will be doled out to effectively implement the social security scheme.
  • The area of taxation will be widened.
  • Capital-based expenses will go up from Rs 313. 99 to 5 trillion.
