MOGADISHU: Scaling the pressure on the security situation in Somalian capital Mogadishu, a car bomb explosion at the checkpoint killed at least 61 people and wounded dozens on Saturday.

“So far, we’ve carried 61 dead people and 51 others injured. There are more casualties and the death toll is sure to rise,” Abdikadir Abdirahman Haji Aden, founder of Amin ambulances narrated the horrible explosion.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the blast, however, citing the past incidents, speculations are directed towards the Al Qaeda-linked Islamist group AlShabaab.
