Heritage walk held from Pashupati to Basantapur

KATHMANDU: A heritage walk from Pashupati to Basantapur was conducted this morning as part of the preparation of the imminent Visit Nepal Year 2020.

Both Pashupatinath Temple and Basantapur Durbar Square are the heritages enlisted in UNESCO heritage sites.

Even the clean-up drive was joined to the heritage trekking. More than 700 sanitation campaigners had active participation in the walk.

The trekking was opened by former Prime Minister and senior leader of Nepal Communist Party, Madhav Kumar Nepal.

On the occasion, leader Nepal viewed organizing such a programme to drive the clean-up campaign was encouraging.

The event held in view of the Visit Year bears significance, he said, adding that sanitation must be prioritized in addition to effective hospitality for the Visit Year.

Once the Kathmandu Valley is made clean, thousands of foreign tourists visit frequently here, he further said.

Sanitation campaigner Mala Kharel informed that the event was organized to give a message of heritage sanitation in view of the Visit Year.

The heritage trek will continue for a month, said another campaigner Kishor Singh Shahi.

The rally begun from Pahsupati went through Jaybageshwori, Gaushala, Rotopul, Gyaneshwor, Sanogaucharan, Narayanhiti, Thamel, Tahiti, Indrachowk and finally reached Basantapur Durbar area.
