21 injured in bus accident



BAITADI: Twenty-one people were injured when a bus met with an accident in Baitadi today. Seven among the injured are in serious condition.

Those injured in the accident are 33-year-old Sitadevi Chand, 66-year-old Kisan Dayal, 12-year-old Sajan Dayal, 15-year-old Naresh Serala, 31-year-old Diwani Oad of Vhimdatta municipality.

Similarly, 27-year-old Keshav Saud, the bus helper and 55-year-old Indian national, Jagat Singh Chauhan have sustained serious injuries, Area Police Office Patan’s Sub-Inspector Bir Bhadra Khadayat said.

According to him, preparations are being made to send all the seriously injured persons to hospitals in districts outside Baitadi for advanced treatment. The rest of the injured persons have minor injuries.

The bus belonging to Mahakali Yatayat (registration number Na 4 Jha 4019) was heading towards Melauli of Baitadi from Mahendranagar when it met with an accident at 3 am at Lorkha along the Patan-Melauli road section on Patan, Baitadi.

The bus driver is absconding. Police said the bus met with an accident as the driver tried to escape the ditches on the road and ran the bus on the edge of the road. Thirty people were traveling in the bus. The bus had fallen 10 metres from the road.
