Presence of high uric acid in bloodstream can cause gout. To prevent this condition, it is essential to watch your eating habits. A healthy eating and proper medication could help you maintain uric acid at normal levels. Below are some of the foods that you must add in your diet to keep uric acid at normal levels.

Add apples in your diet. As they are enriched with malic acid, they neutralize uric acid in blood stream. This gives relief to the patients who are suffering from high uric acid condition.

Apple cider vinegar

Intake of apple cider vinegar is also beneficial for people suffering with high uric acid. You can add 3 teaspoons of vinegar to 1 glass of water. You can have it 2-3 times every day. Drinking apple cider vinegar helps in treating high uric acid condition.

French bean juice

Drinking extracted juice of French beans is an effective home remedy to treat gout. This healthy juice should be consumed twice a day as it prevents the production of high uric acid in blood.

Water

Another reason to have adequate water throughout the day. Water helps in flushing out toxins from the body including excess presence of uric acid. So have at least 8-9 glasses of water every day.

Cherries

As they have anti-inflammatory substance referred to as anthocyanins, it helps in reducing uric acid levels. They also prevent uric acid from crystallizing and getting deposited in the joints. Another reason you should have cherries is they neutralize the acids and help in preventing inflammation and pain.

Berries

Consume berries, especially strawberries and blueberries. Enriched with anti-inflammatory properties, including them in your diet is beneficial to prevent high uric acid levels in blood.

Fresh vegetable juices

Have carrot juice and add beetroot juice and cucumber juice in it. This is an effective remedy to treat high uric acid in blood.

Low fat dairy products

Another way to treat high uric acid is by consuming low fat dairy products in your diet. Go for low fat milk and curd and prevent high uric acid in blood.

Lime

As lime juice contains citric acid, a solvent of uric acid, adding it to your daily diet is helpful in preventing high uric acid level. Squeeze half a lime juice in a glass of water and have it every day.

Vitamin C enriched foods

Including foods enriched with vitamin C is another way to maintain uric acid levels. These foods disintegrate uric acid and flushes it out of the body. Include foods such as kiwi, amla, guava, kiwi, oranges, lemon, tomato and other green leafy vegetables.

Olive oil

Cook your foods with cold-pressed olive oil. This is a healthy start as it contains anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Celery seed

One of the most popular home remedies to treat high uric acid levels is by consuming celery seeds.

Pinto beans

Pinto beans are loaded with folic acid which helps in lowering uric acid naturally. You can also eat sunflower seeds and lentils to reduce the risk of high levels of uric acid.

High-fibre foods

Adding foods that are high in dietary fibre also helps in lowering uric acid levels in blood. They absorb uric acid from the bloodstream and helps in eliminating excess uric acid from your body through kidneys. If you have been diagnosed with high uric acid, increase the consumption of dietary soluble fibres such as oats, apples, oranges, broccoli, pears, strawberries, blueberries, cucumbers, celery, carrots and barley.

Bananas

Have bananas as including them in your diet is beneficial in lowering excess uric acid levels.

Green tea

Another way to treat high uric acid is by consuming green tea every day. This helps in controlling hyperuricemia or high uric acid levels and also lowers the risk of developing gout.

Grains

Have grains that are more alkaline. You can consume jowar and bajra.

Tomatoes, Cucumbers and broccoli

Have tomatoes, cucumbers and broccoli before you start your meal. This is the best way to can prevent the formation of high uric acid in your blood. Their alkaline nature is helpful to maintain uric acid in bloodstream.

Omega 3

Add omega 3 fatty acids. You can have flax-seeds, fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines and walnuts as they help in reducing swelling and inflammation!
