GAUSHALA: Three idols worth Rs 750 thousand have been stolen from the Ram Janaki temple (Kutti) at Ekdara Rural Municipality-2 in Mahottari district Thursday night. Deputy Superintendent at the District Police Office Mahottari, Madhav Prasad Budhathoki said a group of burglars stole the idols from the Ram Janaki temple at Ekdara last night.
The idols of Bhagawan Ram, Mata Sita and Bhagawan Laxman, each made of eight precious metals and weighing 15 kilograms, were found stolen from the temple, police said. Each idol was bought for Rs 250 thousand and installed in the temple, it is stated.
The District Police Office has mobilized policemen around the area for launching an extensive search for the thieves soon after getting information on the theft. Budhathoki said the thieves would be nabbed soon.
