Saptari village deluged as India opens pilot channel

KATHMANDU: Locals of a ward of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality has been blocked after Indian side opened pilot channel in Saptari district.

Indian officials have released the water of the Koshi River into the pilot channel without information, thereby breaching the provisions of Nepal-India Koshi Agreement 1954.

As many as 90 families of Gobargadha have been blocked after the Koshi water was released. The channel was dug unilaterally.
