Australia to kill feral cats by airdropping poisonous sausages



SYDNEY: The Australian government said it wants to get rid of over 2 million feral cats by 2020 by airdropping poisonous sausages, media reports said.

The government also plans to use other measures such as shooting and trapping as well as other practices.

The Australian government had in 2015 announced the plan to kill two million cats by next year terming those feral cats as one of the threats to the country’s biodiversity.

According to media reports, the first cats arrival in the country around the 1700s.Currently, there are reportedly between 2 to 6 million feral cats in Australia.

Likewise, the government has even said it would pay a $10 bounty the scalp of each feral cat, reports said. (Agencies)
