Death toll in Bhimphedi jeep accident reaches five



HETAUDA: The death toll in the  Bhimphedi jeep accident has reached five.

Earlier, three passengers had died on the spot and eight badly injured in the jeep accident. Two more died on the way while being taken to Kathmandu making the toll five.

According to Police Inspector Mukesh Singh at District Police Office, Makwanpur, the deceased are 10-month-old child Samragyee Majhi, Bir Singh Waiba, 70, of Maisthan-6 of Mahottari and Mahendra Sahani of Sarlahi.

The identification of others killed in the mishap is yet to be ascertained.

Among the injured two each are undergoing treatment at the Balkhu-based Vayodha Hospital and the Bhaisepati-based Mediciti Hospital.

The mishap happened when a TATA Sumo jeep, Na 1 Ja 3640, en route to Kathmandu from Sarlahi met with an accident at Bhimphedi-6 Chihandanda at around 2 pm on Friday.

The cause for the mishap is yet to be established, police said.
