7 held for luring girl for ‘sacrifice’ in India

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested seven people from Kathmandu and Biratnagar for allegedly orchestrating a plan to take a girl for sacrifice in India.

The arrested are identified as Krishna Tamang of Nawalparasi, Umesh Sah of Saptari, Dil Kumari Budha Magar of Dang, Dilip Podar of Morang, Prema Tamang of Dhading and  Ranjit Kumar Chaudhari of Sunsari.

Metropolitan Range Office, Kathmandu made them public after arrest at a press meet organized on Thursday.

According information shared at a press meet, the girl was lured to work as model in a music video and was being taken towards India when the arrest was made.

The police was alerted by the girl herself, who grew suspicious about the activities of her alleged abductors. Based on timely information police were able to arrest members of a gang involved in human trafficking, Senior Superintendent of Police Uttam Raj Subedi said.

The arrested have been remanded to seven days in judicial custody for investigation.
