KATHMANDU: The government has made it clear that discussion and interaction with cabinet members by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, via video conference from Singapore, was the only use of a noble technology, and hence should not be interpreted otherwise.
Government spokesperson Gokul Prasad Banskota said it was not right for anyone to have made an issue out of it.
“Elected by the sovereign people, the Prime Minister did not go carrying foreign citizenship, he left only for some time for treatment. Hence, there should not be any question over sovereignty,” he said.
He also ruled out any risk in the use of the technology and urged all sides concerned to not mislead the people by making false statements about it. Either we should not bring in the technology but if we have we must know to utilize it.
It may be noted that prior to the conference call, the Council of Ministers had taken a decision to allow the Prime Minister to hold interaction with cabinet members using information technology including video conference, when on a visit inside and outside the country.
On a different note, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Banskota said that the Prime Minister’s health was seeing progress following the treatment using the Plasmapheresis technology. He also shared that the Prime Minister told members of his cabinet during the conference call on Monday that he was looking forward to returning back home soon.
“I find myself in Singapore only when I am awake, but in my sleep, I am always in Nepal. Physically I am here, but my mind is there (in Nepal),” Minister Banskota quoted the PM as saying.
