New facility at Sahid Gangalal National Heart Center inaugurated

KATHMANDU: The Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre has started providing services from the newly-constructed Emergency and Out Patient Service Block from Saturday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the building amidst a function. Inaugurating the building, PM Oli said a big achievement has been made in the health sector throughout the world as a result of the research and developments in the use of health labs by human beings.

He added that elimination of complicated diseases and the medicines for curing such diseases would not be possible had mankind only relied on belief in god.

Recalling the Buddha’s teaching, he said Buddha also touched and used herbs and plants, and the glorious history of the development of the science of herbal medicine traces back to that period.

PM lauded the doctors and health workers of the Centre for conducting successful open heart surgeries on 17 thousand patients so far since its establishment.

“This National Heart Centre will provide treatment to all persons equally with service motive, without looking at the nationality and country of the patients. We should treat all who come to the hospital seeking medical treatment as human beings,” he said.

Centre’s executive director Jyotindra Sharma said many heart patients have benefited from the Centre and got a new lease of life.

Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Ram Prasad Thapaliya presided over the program. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Ishwor Pokharel and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, were also present on the occasion.
