PM Oli dubs Biplav-led faction a ‘gang of extortionists’

KATHMANDU: Labeling the Biplav-led faction a ‘gang of extortionists’, Prime Minister K P Oli on Monday asked the Biplav-led faction to make its demands clear.

“I want to ask the faction involved in a series of Sunday’s explosions to come up with clear demands,” Prime Minister Oli said while addressing the 19th anniversary of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in the capital today.

“What else do you want when there is already an elected government in place,” PM Oli said criticizing the faction for terrorizing the people in the name of revolution. “The Biplav-faction is nothing more than a gang of extortionists,” he said.

In another context, PM Oli assured that the government would fully abide by the constitutional provision on the issue of press freedom. “Be assured, the government will not go against freedom of the press in any pretext,” he said, however, adding that since anomalies have gripped the media, it needs to be monitored.
