KMC demolishes shutters built at Khula Manch



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has demolished the shutters built in Khula Manch following a huge public pressure against the construction of structures.  KMC demolished the structure at the direction of the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

KMC had given the permission to Manoj Kumar Betwal, chairman of Swachchhanda Builders P. Ltd., to build the shutters for the commercial purpose. The builders has constructed 40 shutters on the Khula Manch premises.

KMC decided to demolish infrastructures after the newly built shutters mired in controversy.

The locals had given a 14-day ultimatum to the KMC to remove the shutters built by encroaching upon Khula Munch area. The locals demonstrated on Thursday after 40 shuttered kiosks were constructed there.
